Ross Swanson | Chair

Ross is a partner with Duncan Craig LLP and currently chairs the firm’s Business Solutions Practice Group. He practices Corporate and Commercial Law with an emphasis on acquisitions and divestitures, corporate finance, corporate reorganizations, and corporate governance. He has advised clients on asset and share acquisitions and dispositions, amalgamations, private equity financing, and general corporate and commercial transactions. Ross's clients have included both public and private companies, not-for-profit entities, and banks.

Ross is an active member and director of the Royal Glenora Club, past chair of the Canadian Bar Association National Business Law Subsection, treasurer of the Canadian Bar Association Tax Law Subsection (Alberta), and president of the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas Tennis Alumni Association. He also serves as a member of the advisory board for a number of middle market private companies as well as a private equity firm. Ross is married to Stefania Valle and has two children, Julia (9) and Ethan (6).


Jake Burlet |  Past Chair

Dr. Jake Burlet is a serial entrepreneur with broad experience in private and international business. Jake has co-founded and overseen the management of a number of Canadian private companies in a variety of business sectors. Areas of subject matter expertise include agribusiness, technology, and business development. Internationally, Dr. Burlet has extensive experience in the United States, Vietnam, China, Mexico, Europe, and South America. 
Dr. Burlet has served in an executive capacity for a number of industry professional organizations. Jake has broad board experience as a professional, accredited board director. Jake’s board experience ranges from small not-for-profits to large corporate entities with annual gross revenues in excess of $2 billion dollars.  Burlet has served on the Canadian advisory boards of two multi-national veterinary pharmaceutical companies, the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation (Edmonton), The Centre for Innovation Studies (Calgary), the Waskesiu Foundation (Waskesiu), the Royal Glenora Club (Edmonton), and serves on the Board of Directors for three privately held Canadian corporations. He has served as chair of numerous board committees as well as Board Chair on a number of occasions.
Dr. Burlet is an alumnus of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, and has post graduate training from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario and is a graduate of Rotman University’s Institute of Corporate Director program.  



John Patterson | Treasurer

In 2011, John retired as a senior financial executive after four decades in the private sector. John served as Treasurer of Capital Power, EPCOR, and ED TEL for various periods. His professional career focussed on treasury, corporate finance, and risk management. During his lengthy career, John negotiated many corporate and project financings, evaluated potential projects and acquisitions, prepared strategic financial plans, developed banking relationships, and developed cost-effective, comprehensive treasury functions. Since retiring, he has completed a number of consulting projects before becoming involved in RGC activities through the Finance & Audit Committee, Rink Redevelopment Committee, and subsequently its Board of Directors and Governance Committee. Currently, John also serves on the Board of Canterbury Foundation and its Finance and Redevelopment committees.  

John’s family joined the Royal Glenora Club when they moved to Alberta in 1990. For many years, John played badminton while his kids primarily used the fitness room to train for ski racing. John also met his wife, Dianne, at the Royal Glenora Club. She has been an active RGC Member since 1976.

John has always been active in the management of family sports activities. As Treasurer of both Rabbit Hill and Sunridge ski clubs, John redeveloped their accounting systems to provide better management information to club executive and members. Early on at the RGC, John served as Treasurer of the Badminton section committee and more recently the Bridge and Tennis section committees. On the Arena Redevelopment Committee, John was responsible for the financial evaluation of the various redevelopment alternatives.

For the last eight years, John has actively participated on the Finance & Audit Committee, including three years as Chair, during which time we significantly improved the financial information for management decision-making and consequently the Club’s financial position to the point of long-term cash flow sustainability. John is committed to the long-term success of the Royal Glenora Club as the Athletic and Social Club that people want to be a part of for life.


Sandi Wright | Secretary

Sandi Wright is an Account Executive with Philips Healthcare and has 15 years of professional experience providing strategic business development, marketing, and leadership insight to the healthcare industry. Sandi holds a BCom from the University of Alberta and an MSc in Health System Management from the University of Liverpool. Prior to joining Philips, Sandi worked with other healthcare industry multinationals including Cardinal Health, Baxter, and Nestle Healthcare Nutrition. Aside from her professional experience, Sandi is a passionate advocate for the community and the Royal Glenora Club. Chair of the skating committee from 2012–2015, Sandi was also the 2013 recipient of the Marilyn Chidlow volunteer award and continues to support the Royal Glenora Club in her position as a Member of the Board of Directors.      


Reed Clarke

Reed Clarke has been an RGC Member since 2011 and joined the Club’s Board of Directors in 2014. Reed has obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Athabasca. Presently, Reed is the Director of Marketing at AutoCanada, but also held the position of Key Account Manager at Sleeman Breweries and Molson Coors, which helps make him an excellent candidate for his position on the RGC Board of Directors, as well as his position as an RGC Membership Committee Member.

Outside of his role with the Board, Reed is married to fellow RGC Member (and RGC Finance Committee Member), Kira Gregson. The couple has two boys, Hudson (3) and Ford (4 months). Reed is also a huge sports fan and enthusiast who can often be found at Oilers, Eskimos, and Prospects games, as well as around the RGC using the Fitness, Tennis, Squash, and Aquatics facilities.

As a Board representative of his fellow Club Members, Reed promises to represent the best interests of the Club during all Board decisions. He desires to work hard to build a strong and more vibrant local community within the City of Edmonton. It is his belief that our City, community, and Club can be great if everyone works together to achieve a common goal.


Steven Graham

Steven is an accomplished management executive with over 30 years of experience in the energy industry. Steven holds an BSc in Engineering and an MBA from the University of Alberta. Most of Steven’s career has been focussed internationally and primarily in the middle east. He served for ten (10) years on the board of directors for a joint venture company located in Pakistan, and has also served on the board for the Canadian Gas Processors Suppliers Association. Steven and his wife, Nancy, enjoyed living in Abu Dhabi (UAE) for three (3) years while actively participating as members at “The Club” in Abu Dhabi.
Steven has been a Member at the Royal Glenora Club for ten (10) years actively participating in the squash community and socially participating in the tennis community.


Warren Jones

Warren Jones obtained his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Dalhousie University and has been a sales and marketing strategist for 30 years. He has spent the last 10 years as an entrepreneur, running a small kitchen and bathroom renovation company. Warren loves Tennis and Squash, and enjoys socializing at the Club. Warren and his family also often enjoy the pool and the Friday night buffet, especially with his grandson.


Ann Marie Reinson

Ann Marie has been an RGC member since 1996, along with her spouse Scott and three children, Blake (24), Connor (22), and daughter Sydney (19). Over the past 20 years, the entire Reinson family has been active participants in the Squash, Badminton, Aquatics, Skating, and Fitness sections of the Club. Over the years, Anne Marie has been a Committee Member of the Squash, Fitness, and Skating Committees. She enjoys running, cycling, golf, swimming, and squash, and sometimes challenges herself by playing squash on a tennis court! 
Ann Marie is currently employed with Janssen Immunology, a Division of Johnson & Johnson, as Territory Manager responsible for Northern Alberta and Manitoba. She has a Bachelor of Financial Studies, an MBA, and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and part of the Council for Continuing Pharmaceutical Education (CCPE).
Ann Marie looks forward to once again representing Members of the RGC with an in-depth understanding of the by-laws and policies at the RGC. She believes that the RGC has the ability to continue its legacy as a high-performance athletic facility while continuing to provide a core of family-oriented recreational activities.


Sherry Robertson

For over 15 years, Sherry Robertson coached the Canadian National Synchronized Swim Team to podium performances at major International competitions including Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships and the Olympic Games. Sherry is currently on the Board of Directors for the Coaching Association of Canada as well as a Session Member on the Canadian Olympic Committee.

As a Registered Dietitian as well as a Chartered Professional coach, Sherry has been providing nutritional counseling and presentations to National Teams and individual athletes in a variety of sports.  In 2013, Sherry was invited to be part of the FINA expert nutrition panel and was  the lead authors on the publication “Swimming & Nutrition” in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism. In April, 2016, Sherry attended the International Olympic Committee symposium and graduation ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she received her IOC Diploma in Sports Nutrition. Currently, she is collaborating on an international project and publication on Relative Energy Deficiency in sport (RED-S). 


Brendan Storey

Brendan is an Investment Advisor and Portfolio Manager at CIBC Wood Gundy. He has been at the Club since his parents joined in the early 90s, and loves the sense of community that the RGC creates. Along with his wife Kate and children Caroline (5) and Philip (2), Brendan and his family are avid users of many different facilities at the Club. Brendan looks forward to working with his fellow Board Members and all RGC Team Members.


Richard Walters

As a lifelong Member, the Royal Glenora Club holds a distinctive place for Richard. In his role as a Director for the RGC, Richard blends his passion for the Club with his substantial professional, management, and leadership experience in Alberta’s private sector. Richard continues to support and consider the direction, growth, and development of the Club for current and future generations. As an alumnus of the University of Alberta, Richard has been awarded both his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and his Master of Engineering and has been a practicing structural engineer for 25 years. Beyond the professional sphere, Richard enjoys playing hockey and swimming at the Club, enjoying time with his wife, and trying to keep up with his two active teenage boys.
