Arena Operator/Maintenance | full-time

Reporting to the Director of Facility Operation, this permanent full-time Arena Operator/Arena Maintenance position is responsible to maintain the Royal Glenora Club Ice Arena in a condition of excellence. Insuring that the highest quality of ice is available for full usage at all times.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs ice resurfacing operation; operates Zamboni and ice edger; records ice measurements; flooding, patching, building and repairing ice as required.
  • ​Checks Zamboni’s fluid levels, tires, battery and changes blades as required.
  • Performs ice making, ice painting, ice removal duties, facility painting, dasher board glass installation and operation of the bobcat.
  • Monitors Arena’s physical plant and maintains arena security; takes and records readings of plant operating conditions.
  • Monitors all factors regarding safety and the security in the Ice Arena Facility.
  • Maintaining all adjacent areas to the arena exterior including entranceways.
  • Assist with the setup and tear down of special events.
  • Assist with snow removal when required.
  • Able to work a variety of shifts.

Working Conditions:

  • Standing, moving, bending
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
  • Evening, weekends and holiday hours as required


  • Minimum 1 year of Ice rink experience, including knowledge of rink operations and equipment;
  • Arena Operator Level I (Level 2 an asset);
  • Pool Operators 1 and 2 certificates an asset;
  • Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED is required;
  • WHMIS would be an asset;
  • Word processing and general computer experience is an asset;
  • Exceptional customer service focus;
  • Independent decision-making, problem solving and analytical skills;
  • A well-developed understanding of artificial ice preparation and maintenance;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety; and
  • Teamwork and cooperation.
