Ryan Schroffel | Tennis Head Coach/Manager | 780.482.2371 ext 397 |

Ryan is the talented lead of our Tennis Department. Ryan graduated university with his Bachelor of Arts, specializing in Coaching Studies, from the University of Alberta, where he also played on the tennis team. Currently, Ryan hosts an impressive repertoire of coaching experience, as he has obtained his Tennis Canada Coach 3 Certification and is a Tennis Alberta and Tennis Canada Coach Facilitator. In addition to this, Ryan has been a Tennis Alberta Provincial Coach at over 15 Junior Nationals and Western Canada Summer Games. He also has his Tennis Canada Coach Mentorship Program Certificate and was awarded the Gary Caron/TPA Scholarship in 2009. Ryan has also been a Provincial Doubles Champion multiple times.


Alek Salwierz | Tennis Professional | 780.482.0397 |

Alek is a skilled tennis professional, boasting his Tennis Canada Pro 1 Certification and being a Pro 2 candidate. Alek was the Ontario Tennis Association course facilitator from 2012-2014 and before that was the Head Tennis Professional and Club Director as the Hespeler Tennis Club in Cambridge, ON. He is a skilled player, being a former top 10 player in Ontario, and has had career wins over competitors who have reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and who have ranked as high as #757 on ATP tour in singles and #38 in doubles. Before joining the RGC, Alek worked as the Assistant General Manager at Goodlife Fitness.


Derek van den Berg | Tennis Coach |

Derek has his Tennis Canada Club Pro 2 Certification in addition to being a Tennis Canada Certified Official and Roving Umpire. Derek has his Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph and previously worked at Cutten Fields Golf & Tennis Club in Guelph, ON.


Lane Richard | Adult Tennis Coordinator | 780.482.2371 ext 450 VM |

Lane brings to the RGC his talent in the sport, boasting his Tennis Canada Coach 3 Certification and the completion of Tennis Alberta’s mentorship program. Additionally, Lane is a certified Tennis Alberta Coach Facilitator and has been a Tennis Alberta Provincial Coach at multiple Junior National Championships. Lane is a multiple Provincial Doubles Champion and a three-time University of Alberta Tennis MVP.


Luke Manley | Tennis Professional | 780.482.0397 |

Luke may be our youngest Tennis Professional, but he is a very seasoned player and an excellent coach to learn from. Luke’s tennis skills took him to the University of Denver NCAA Division 1 Tennis Team, where he was able to play on the team for two years. Luke has also played in over 14 Junior National Championships and in the 2009 Canada Summer Games. In 2016, Luke earned the Champion title in the Alberta Open Singles tournament. He has previously worked at Capilano Tennis Club and Laurier Heights. Luke has his Tennis Club Pro 1 Certification.


Marvin Hinds | Junior Performance Coordinator | 780.482.2371 ext 450 VM |

Marvin Hinds is our talented Junior Performance Coordinator. Marvin has many years of experience on the court, which includes being crowned Champion of muluitple Provincial Doubles tournaments and being an alumnus of the University of Alberta's tennis team. In terms of coaching experience, Marvin has been a Tennis Alberta Provincial Coach at mulitple Junior National Championships, a Tennis Alberta U10 Provincial Coach, and the recipient of the Tennis Canada U10 Developmental Scholarship in 2013. Marvin has his Tennis Canada Coach 3 Certification.


Gary Fletcher | Tennis Professional (part-time) | 780.482.2371 ext 395 |

Gary is a familiar face around the Club after his many years of service with us; he held the position of Head Tennis Professional at the RGC from 1989-2012. Gary has his Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta. He also has obtained his Tennis Canada Coach 2 Certification and was the previous Executive Director for Tennis Alberta. In terms of his experience as a player, Gary has been a Provincial and National Doubles Champion multiple times.


Stuart Perkins | Tennis Professional (part-time) | 780.482.0397

Stuart has his Tennis Canada Club Pro 1 Certification and his International Tennis Federation Level 1 Certification. He played in Florida for a number of years and is an alumnus of the Florida Institute of Technology tennis team NCAA 1 division, during which time he worked to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Stuart has previously worked for Edmonton Junior Tennis Society, Little Aces, and Garneau Beach and Tennis Club.
